California Babies Project
The California Babies Project (CBP) is an ongoing longitudinal study of the subsample of CFP youth who have had babies of their own. The goal of the project is to understand how stressful experiences, such as poverty, discrimination, and marital conflict, influence the development of child self-regulation during the first three years of the babies life. The study also examines how parents’ emotions, behaviors, physiological reactivity, and cultural values can buffer them and their children from the adverse effects of stressful experiences. Assessments are being conducted when the children are 6 months, 18 months, 3 years, and 4 years of age.
The California Babies Project was funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). The PI of the project is Dr. Leah Hibel (UC Davis).
